BACKGROUND

Caritas Nigeria was established in September 2010 by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), as a specialized national development agency with a mandate for overall coordination of development programs for the Catholic Church in Nigeria. Although independently registered, Caritas Nigeria is an arm of the Church and Society Department of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN).  The legal name of the organization is Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), however it is generally known as Caritas Nigeria.

Caritas unit of Justice, Development and Peace Movement is a diocesan unit of Caritas Nigeria that sees to the coordinating and supporting  programmes based on local needs in the diocese. With the meagre money at its disposal its gives assistance to the poor ones around us so as to make life bearable for them.

Our organization’s objectives are:
To upheld and advocate for the human dignity of each person;
to strenghtening and advocate for the reintegration of the poor and marginalized into society, regardless to nationality, religion, race, gender or political opinion;
to promote the development of the communities by empowerment and support;
to promote public spirit, individual social responsibility and volunteerism among our people in Oyo Diocese
