Sequel to the bi-monthly discourse on anti-gender-based violence organized by JDPM and sponsored by the European Union (EU) under the EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) Programme Phase II Project, the participant agreed to establish an Anti- Gender Based Club in secondary schools with the intention of improving school-community understanding of gender-based violence (GBV) and reducing or eliminating GBV in schools. In line with the identification of and visit to Project stakeholders, a 6-man advocacy team was inaugurated on the 20th of June 2023, under the EU-SDGN project. The team comprises of retired seasoned educationists in Messrs. Ayediran J.A, Adewuyi T.A, Oladipupo J.I, Taiwo D.O, Alhaji Isamat T.A and Mrs. Awotunde P.F. In an attempt to catch them young, JDPM Oyo embarked on School Outreach on Civic Education and Gender Based Violence (GBV) under the EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) Program Phase II. It is believed that many people had withdrawn from participating in election, either as a voter or candidate, due to loss of interest in the electioneering process in Nigeria as a result of either lack of adequate information or a perceived threat to their lives. The Democracy and Good Governance Initiative (DGGI) evolve in 19 LGAs of the JDPM Oyo coverage areas which include Oyo, Ogbomoso and Oke-Ogun through series of interventions led by Politics and Human Rights (PHR) of JDPM a decade ago. The platform evolved to advocate for good governance and increase citizen participation in governance through the mobilization of the citizenry for constructive activism, positive advocacy and penetrating civic engagement. International Youth Day (IYD) is celebrated across the world on the 12th of August every year as a recommendation by the World Conference of Ministers of Youth (Lisbon, 8-12 August 1998) and endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999. Over the last two decades of International Youth Day celebrations, several innovative and timely themes have been explored, which includes; mental health, intergenerational solidarity, safe spaces for youth and civic engagement. The Rural Development Programme of JDPM have always strive hard to ensure that the lives of rural community dwellers under the misereor sponsored project is better. The focus is mainly on rural farmers including women and youths for holistic agricultural and community development. Determined to enhance growth and sustainability, the Management of Justice, Development and Peace Movement (JDPM) conducted a 2-day needs assessment training to evaluate both internal and external strength of the Organization. The training which started on Monday 26th of June 2023, was designed to assess the necessary needs that will boost the Organization’s competitive power both in the internal and external environment where it operates. During the training, it was discovered that the Organization had not done much in increasing its visibility and as such need to take drastic steps in its attempt to be well known in the industry where it operates.
